Hello, I’m Li!
In 2011, I graduated from Zhejiang University in China, where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and an Honorary Degree of Science for interdisciplinary training. I had been doing research in Neuroscience since my Freshman year, and moved to the United States to continue the graduate level research training. In the Genetics, Genomics and Development program at Cornell University, I studied nuclear architecture and regulation of transcription, and received a Master of Science degree in Genetics. My experience in learning and teaching scientific and medical subjects, as well as conducting research projects, has made me realize the challenges and importance of communication.
Intrigued by the power and beauty of visual communication, I left the research lab and pursued a Master’s degree in medical illustration at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institute in 2015. Since then, I have ben combining my research background, my visual communication skills, and my passion for problem-solving to help people find effective visual solutions.
I knew I wanted to be a designer. What makes me feel even more energized is that there are always new things to learn and exciting ideas to explore. While working on interactive media, I started to get in touch with User Experience Design and fell in love with this field. Two years later, I got my third Master’s degree from the UX Design program at Maryland Institute College of Art. I am actively doing UX/product design work and I enjoy transforming ideas into solutions.
I am grateful for the career exploration I went through and all the amazing people who had mentored and helped me along the way. It allows me to pull experiences from different perspectives at work and in my life. I enjoy being a life-long learner and I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead!
